’Abu Muhammad Djābir b. Yazīd Dju‘fī Kūfī (about 50-128 A.H) is considered as one of the well-known and trustworthy followers and companions of al-Bākir and al-Sādik. During the late ’Umayyavad era, he was considered as a great authority on religious sciences of his time, his main scientific activities being focused on exegesis of the Kurān, Hadīth (Islamic Tradition), history, Fikh (Islamic jurisprudence) and Kalām (Islamic Theology).Having accepted numerous outstanding students from both Shī‘ite and Sunnī sectors, he profoundly contributed to the dissipation of these sciences among all Muslims especially among the Shī‘ite Muslims.
