چکیده :

A species of maple (Acer velutinum) native to Iran was treated by extraction in hot water followed by an ethanol/acetone mixture for a better acoustical quality. The hypothesis was to achieve a reduction in density without any obvious change in dynamic modulus of elasticity to obtain a greater sound radiation coefficient. Small, thin specimens were prepared for testing of acoustical parameters and compared to each other before and after extraction. Results showed that successive extraction with hot water and an ethanol/acetone mixture improved the acoustical quality of maple wood.
