چکیده :

The present study aims to investigate the relationship between family social capital and high school students’ creativity. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The population included all high school students and their families in Iranshahr in the academic year 2013-2014 (N=6000). Stratified random sampling method was applied. According to Krejcie and Morgan’s table, the sample size was 361. Data analysis was conducted based on a survey. In this study, the questionnaire of Family Social Capital was made by the researcher, according to Putnam’s Social Capital Components including 63 items, and used together with Abedi’s (1993) Creativity Inventory including 60 items. Their content validity was checked and their reliability was estimated using Cronbach's Alpha which were0.866 and 0.821, respectively. Frequency, mean and standard deviation tables were used to describe the data. To measure the variables of the study, Pearson correlation coefficient, one-sample t-test, and independent t-test were used. All calculations were performed with SPSS v.18. Findings suggested that social capital of high school students’ families was generally desirable. Social capital components of trust, trustworthiness and norms including cooperation, and assistance/ collaboration were desirable. However, the component of networks, including social and civil participation, and social solidarity, was lower than the average. It was also revealed that students’ creativity was above the average and that high school students’ creativity was above the average. However, no significant relationship was found between high school students’ family social capital and creativity. Moreover, there was a significant difference between male students and female students’ family social capital. Male students’ family social capital was higher than that of female students and there was no significant difference between female and male students' creativity.
