The experiment was conducted at the Tobacco Research Institute, Rasht, Iran, during 2009 to study the effects of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers on tobacco. The study was a factorial experiment with three replications. The various levels of fertilizer used were; 35 (N1), 45 (N2), 55 (N3) and 65 (N4) kg N/ha, and 150 (K1) and 200 (K2) kg K/ha. Results showed that the effect of nitrogen on dry leaf yield (the weight of dry leaves), wet stalk weight, total dry weight (shrub) and total wet weight (shrub) were significant. The effect of potassium on dry leaf yield (the weight of dry leaves) and green leaf yield (the weight of wet leaves) were significant. Also, the combined effect of nitrogen and potassium on total dry weight (shrub) was significant.
