Hamoon Lake is not only the widest and the most important sweet lake of the country, but also it possesses bioenvironmental potentials as well as unique ecological values in Sistan. It also enjoys a special position in supplying the most protein production in the region, and the country. Also, the survival of vast majority of the inhabitants of the area such as hunters, fishers, and cattle owners, largely depend on this lake. But all the above mentioned functions have been entirely destroyed as a result of the drought of the lake. It is thus essential to investigate the causes and reasons of the potential of the lake and seek the most suitable solutions. It is also needed that the policy makers and planning organizations should think of revival as well as the return of the socio economical and ecological impacts.
