intelligent agent is an entity that has sensors for perceiving its environment and acting through effectors. Each intelligent agent has some internal characteristics such as autonomy, reactivity, goal-based and Learning/reasoning and several external characteristics such as communication, cooperation and mobility capabilities. E-Learning is using electronic communication techniques and internet to deliver learning materials for learner in various distance locations. It is very important way for providing facilities for disabled people or anyone who has problem for learning through traditional learning models. Learning management systems (LMSs) are proposed to create virtual class-rooms. One LMS allows learners to connect and use these systems from anywhere and anytime based on their desires. Some of the important facilities that are providing LMSs are including: delivering learning materials to learners and track the learners’ learning process, making quizzes and exam administration, Supporting learners’ collaboration, managing learners’ profile, Scheduling events, providing facilities for registration and prerequisite and screening and cancellation notification and etc. Since several intelligent agents are proposed for increasing the performance of LMSs. This paper presents a comprehensive study about various intelligent agents that are proposed for enhancing the learning capabilities of learners in LMS environments and their functionalities.
