There is only one cichlid species native to Iran. Similar to trends observed in other countries, the introduction of nonnative fish species has increased considerably within recent decades, reaching 23 confirmed species belonging to eight families (Esmaeili et al., 2010). The optimal temperature ranges between 25–30°C (Yousef and Goda, 1996). Tilapias are multiple spawners throughout the year (King, 1994). In this paper we present the first records of T. Zillii in the Dez River, Iran.
