Spirooxazines as a well-known group of such compounds represent their photochromism only in very low temperatures. Polarity is an impressive factor on isomerization of photochromic materials. On the other hand, incorporation of photochromic compounds into the polymer matrix would occur through doping or chemical bonding which results in an enhancement of photo-activity and stabilization of optical properties. Here, spirooxazine-based acrylate (SNO-Ac) photochromic monomer was synthesized and then copolymerized with methyl methacrylate via mini emulsion polymerization. Its thermo-optical properties was investigated in solvents with different polarities. Results depicted that the optical properties of the prepared nanoparticles are simultaneously dependent to polarity and temperature. Reverse isomerization rate was lower in polar solvents than non-polar.
