Ecto parasites of aviary and pet birds in Sabzevar city, Iran

Objectives:Pet birds have a special popularity because of their beauty. The purpose of this study Was to determine the infestation of ecto parasites in these birds. Materials & Methods:In order to investigate the contamination of pet birds, a total of 550 birds Included pigeon (150), canary (330), love bird (100), finch (60), parrot (10) were investigated frombirds shops in the city of Sabzevar, Iran. Results & Conclusion: results showed that Columbiclacolumbae infestation was seen in 22 (14.66) Of pigeon. 27 (8.18%) of canariesand 2 (3.33%) of finch were infested with Cnemidocoptespillae. In This study, four Dermanyssusgallinae were seen in the bird’s shops under investigation, and six Were infected with Argasreflexus. Due to the presence of ectoparasite infestation in the birdhouse, Doing heath care is essential.
