A simple, cheap and sensitive solid-phase extraction method has been described for simultaneous derivatization and preconcentration of 3- phenoxybenzaldehyde in aqueous samples. The method is based on the reaction of 3-pbAl with 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) to form 2, 4-dinitrophenyhydrazone and give a yellow dye which is measured spectrophotometrically at 407 nm. The calibration curve was linear from 0.01 to 5 µg mL-1 of 3-pbAl. Limit of detection(S/N=3) were obtained 1.45 ng mL-1 and %RSD (n=5) from o.34 to 1.6%. Molar absorptivity was found to be 46640 L mol-1 cm-1.
